PRESS RELEASE
As a result of a narcotics investigation the Mattapoisett Police Department placed 3 parties under arrest, and executed 2 search warrants. This investigation led to the arrest of the target of the investigation Nicholas Nasveschuk of 44 Dwight Ave Pymouth, Ma. At the time of the investigation, Nasveschuk was residing at the Hillside Motel located at 92 Marion Rd in Mattapoisett, MA.
During the investigation Narcotics Officers from the Mattapoisett Police Department observed Nasveschuk engage in multiple hand-to-hand drug transactions from his motel room at the Hillside Motel. In addition, narcotics officers facilitated controlled purchases of Heroin from Nasveschuk at the Motel.
As a result of the investigation, the Mattapoisett Police obtained search warrants for Nicholas Nasveschuk and room #103 at the Hillside Motel. On 10/04/13 at approximately 6:45PM the Mattapoisett Police assisted by Detectives from the Dartmouth Police observed Nasveschuk leave the motel in a motor vehicle. Officers believed that Nasveschuk was en route to conduct a drug transaction at a nearby location. This was confirmed when Nasveschuk met with a male party on Chapel Rd. less than 1 mile from his room at the Motel. At this time Nasveschuk was stopped and approached by police. At that time he ingested approximately 1 gram of heroin. Due to the amount of heroin ingested, Nasveschuk was placed under arrest and transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital by Mattapoisett Police EMS. It was later determined that Nasveschuk arranged to meet this individual to sell 1 gram of heroin.
Following the search of Nasveschuk at the scene, Officers immediately proceeded to the Hillside Motel located at 92 Marion Rd., in Mattapoisett, MA. As a result of the search of the motel Officer’s located heroin packaged for resale, drug paraphernalia, scale, drug ledgers, packaging material and cutting agents used to increase the amount of narcotics for resale. In addition, Narcotics Officers seized US currency from the proceeds of drug sales and computers that were used to facilitate drug transactions. Present at the time of the search and residing in the room with Nasveschuk was Joseph Lemay from 4 Tenth Ave in Wareham, MA.
While Police were present at the Motel several customers of Nasveschuk arrived at the Motel in motor vehicles in order to purchase heroin. As result, Candice Detalia of 36 Studio Drive, Buzzards Bay was arrested on an unrelated warrant.
Nasveschuk is charged with possession of a Class A controlled substance with the intent to distribute.
Joseph Lemay is charged with being present where Heroin is kept.
During this investigation, the Mattapoisett Police department worked closely with Detectives from Fairhaven and Dartmouth Police Departments and the Dartmouth Police K-9 unit. This collaborative effort enabled the Mattapoisett Police to conduct a thorough investigation across jurisdictional boundaries. Intelligence gathered from the collaborative effort of multiple agencies is also an invaluable resource.
