On 06/02/18 Mattapoisett police Officer Osetkowski stopped a white Jeep Cherokee on Marion Road, at 02:28 hrs. for motor vehicle violations. The officer realized that the license plate did not belong on the vehicle it was attached to. The vehicle initially stopped and as the officer approached the vehicle it sped off heading east towards Marion. Officer Osetkowski pursued the vehicle into Marion and then into Rochester. Once in Rochester, the vehicle proceeded onto the power lines off Walnut Plain Rd. The vehicle was located a short time later unoccupied.
A search of the area located Kalvin Ferreira, 22 of Rochester. Kalvin Ferreira was arrested by the Mattapoisett Police and charged with Operating under the influence of alcohol, 2nd offense, Failure to stop for a Police Officer, operating with a Suspended license, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, and attaching license plates.
Mattapoisett Police was assisted by Rochester Police, Marion Police, Massachusetts Environmental Police and a Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department K9.
