A Message from the Chief
Concerning the recent posts regarding Old Rochester Regional High School, I want to assure you that there is no threat to the safety of the students, faculty, or administrators at the ORR campus. Many of you received a text sent from a parent, who appeared to have accessed her child’s contacts on a cell phone. This parent elected to send a message out indicating there is an active investigation into threats to the student body. She recommended that parents keep their children home from school. There is no active investigation, and there are no threats to the student body. This parent’s actions on social media have created unnecessary distractions for the students and parents. School and Law Enforcement Officials have worked diligently to follow up with students and parents with any concerns they have had as a result of the inaccurate and misleading social media posts. School officials have kept parents notified, based on current information.
The police and school officials err on the side of caution when we receive information concerning the safety of students, faculty, and administrators. If there were a credible concern, the campus would be closed. Rest assured what has been distributed is not factual and is only one woman’s interpretation and sensationalism of gossip and rumors.
The school is in session for the remainder of the week.
Respectfully,
Chief Lyons
