Wednesday August 31, 2016 at approximately 7:00pm, a North Street resident called the Mattapoisett Police reporting a loud argument at his next door neighbors house followed by what he believed to be a gunshot. Officers were dispatched to North Street, north of I-195. At the residence, they found that two males, known to each other, had a verbal argument that became physical. One male shot the other male in bicep area of his arm. The suspect that fired the handgun was arrested. The injured male was transported by Mattapoisett Police EMS to Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Center with what appears to be a serious but non-life threatening injury.
This is an active investigation as we continue to conduct interviews. It is an isolated incident, the suspect is in custody. There is no other information available at this time.
