MATTAPOISETT POLICE
PRESS RELEASE
Friday September 30, 2016 at approximately 2:30am Officer Nicholas Lorenco stopped a motor vehicle on 195 westbound for defective equipment. Officer Lorenco approached the passengers side door and asked the operator for her license and registration. The male passenger opened the glove compartment where Officer Lorenco observed a firearm. Officer Lorenco ordered the male passenger out of the vehicle. He also ordered the female operator out of the vehicle. Trooper Katie Lorenco on patrol notified Mattapoisett Police advising Officer Lorenco that two fuel stations in Bourne had been robbed by a male wearing a mask and carrying a handgun. The two individuals that Officer Lorenco had stopped fit the description of the suspect in the two armed robberies.
Nazario Garate age 34 of 879 Old Barnstable Road Hyannis and Jessica Walton age 27 of 428 Main Street Hyannis were arrested.
Nazario Garate is charged with not wearing a seatbelt, possession of class A (Heroin), possession of class B substance (Crack Cocaine), possession of class B substance (cocaine).
Jessica Walton is charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, defective drivers side taillight, possession of Class A (Heroin), possession of class B substance (Crack Cocaine), possession of Class B substance (Cocaine).
Both were arraigned in Wareham District Court on Friday September 30, 2016. It is expected that Bourne Police will be seeking charges related to the two armed robberies in Barnstable District Court.
